Gloucester Docks Through the Looking Glass

The Irene and The Wonder

The Irene and The Wonder

If you live in Gloucester, unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard that there is filming going on at the Docks.

The film in question was supposed to be a secret, but it seems clear that it is Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass” starring Johnny Depp.

You’ll have a while before you can see the finished film as it is not due to hit cinemas until 2016, but in the meanwhile you can see things taking shape down at the docks. Five tall ships have sailed in for the occasion and props and scenery are being set up around the warehouses, which despite recent regeneration still give a pleasingly authentic backdrop if filmed from the right angles.

Speculation is that filming will start tonight (Saturday 16th) at around 10pm, but so far I have seen no confirmed sightings of Mr Depp.

Plenty of sightings of tall ships however: here’s a few pictures from earlier today.

I would look for Mia Wasikowska, the actress who plays Alice. She filmed in London earlier this week and seemed to be wearing Navy-inspired outfits in some of those shots.
