Route 66

Some good friends of ours are currently on holiday, but this isn’t just any old holiday. Oh no, they have gone off to America with a group of like minded individuals and together they are travelling the length of Route 66 on Harley Davidsons.

Jealous? Me? No, of course not. Why would I be jealous? T’ch, the very thought…

Anyway, if like me you’re not at all jealous, but would like to live vicariously through them for a couple of weeks, you can follow their progress on their blog.

Back in 2007 my wife and I travelled some of Route 66. It was only a very short stretch on the way from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, and it was in a rented Dodge, not a Harley Davidson, but hey, you can’t have everything!

Along the way we stopped at a service gas station that was trying so hard to be authentic it was obviously just there for us tourists, and it was packed with every conceivable piece of Route 66 merchandise. Very photogenic though.
