Queen Boadicea II

I may already have mentioned last weekend’s Gloucester Tall Ships Festival once or twice, but sadly I was unable to be there because, in a classic case of bad timing, I was off enjoying myself in London instead, seeing Eric Clapton and visiting Kew Gardens.

By the time I managed to get to the Docks on Monday, most of the impressive tall ships had already left. I did however manage to grab this picture of Queen Boadicea II about to leave with a full cargo of eager tourists for a pleasure trip along the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. The trip is on my to-do list before too long.

Several of the Tall Ships were still at the Docks today. Shame the Kaskelot is in bits at the moment – when I saw that arrive at Nielson’s I thought it would be open for visiting during the Festival. Sadly only open for workmen with welding equipment!

I didn’t even realise that was the Kaskelot under all that scaffolding – some serious work going on there, hard hats and hi-viz vests required at all times!

It’s the most comprehensive re-fit I’ve ever seen! Was down there a week ago and it’s still far from recognisable. Must be costing *a fortune*!! 😀

  2. Real shame you missed it this year.
