Gloucester has an annual carnival which, until recently, had been diminishing in size until the point that it looked like the whole thing should be knocked on its head and put out of its misery.
The biggest contingent of the carnival became the long tail of god-botherers and street preachers. This doesn’t make for a good carnival, but some of them do make for great pictures: this guy, I think, looks like he should be somewhere in the mid-south of America rather than in Gloucester Park.
Thankfully, last year the carnival got a shot in the arm and was the most impressive parade for many years – see: Gloucester Carnival – Spirit of 2012. Hopefully the upward trend will continue this year.
