The Sphinx

Back at the beginning of February I posted a picture from my 2003 trip to Egypt; here’s another. I have always been fascinated by the pyramids, so it was great to visit Giza. Sadly, what comes first to mind when I look at this picture is a silly poem:

The sexual desires of the camel
Are much greater than anyone thinks
In the height of the mating season
He’ll even fancy the Sphinx
But the Sphinx’s posterior passage
Is blocked by the sands of the Nile
Which accounts for the hump on the camel
And the Sphinx’s inscrutable smile
